My Photo a Day, January 2015, Week Four
Enjoy my take on Week Four of the Photo a Day Challenge for January.
The prompt of the day is in red, the photo and description is my take on the prompt!
This week is extra special, as my family hit the road...or Autobahn...and drove from Frankfurt to
Utrecht in The Netherlands yesterday, during a snow storm, to meet with other participants.
Was a great weekend in a beautiful city with fabulous company!

Forty Winks Friday - Cosy Corner
It doesn't matter if the "cosy corner" happens to be the corner of a busy intersection.
If you have a comfy hat, wall to lean on and a warm drink to wake up to
it is the perfect place for a nap!

My Photo a Day January 2015, Week Three
Enjoy my take on Week Three of the Photo a Day Challenge for January.
The prompt of the day is in red, the photo and description is my take on the prompt!
12
Bright
My fruit bowl is pretty bright - the Clementine's too!
13
Favourite Number
The number 8 is associated with prosperity and confidence in Chinese culture.
Pronounced 'Ba' in Chinese it sounds similar to the word for fortune.
The 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony was started at 8:08pm.
14
New
I like to try new recipes, fingers crossed this one works tonight!
(P.S. Spinach and Chicken Cannelloni was good)

Old
Love my Antique Chinese Wedding basket, made in 1928.
The tiered baskets made of wood and bamboo were hand painted.
They were stuffed with treats for the wedding party and carried to the wedding.

Forty Winks Friday, Soft grass, warm sun..perfect!
Most parks in Shanghai have the grass fenced off, no walking or playing on the lawn.
This guy managed to evade the eyes of the guards and had a nap
while they were ....probably napping themselves

My Photo a Day January 2015, Week Two
Enjoy my take on this week!
The daily prompt is listed in red, the photo is my take on the prompt
and my description is under the photo!
5 January
Square - The square windows of the beer museum in Heidelberg, Germany.
My husband would like to do a fair bit of research in this museum!
6 January
Round - Round wheels, round bridge arches, round sign, round bike lock!
7 January
Currently reading - Ralph is currently researching one of his fellow Border Collie's....
'Dog' from Footrot Flats, they are very alike!
8 January
Landscape - Why do these prompts always coincide with horrible weather?
(It was a stormy, wet day, not ideal for landscape photography)
(It was a stormy, wet day, not ideal for landscape photography)
Here is my landscape in collage, same spot, different season, different zooms.
Snowy one taken last week.
My favourite landscape, my home town of Perth, Western Australia taken July 2012
9 January
Pattern - Love the patterns of the Half Timbered houses in Germany.
They were built this way as timber was expensive. The frame was made in timber
and then filled in with plaster and smaller sticks.
They realised you could make attractive patterns with the wood and plaster
so the became quite intricate.
10 January
Hello - I can't wait to go home to Australia in July and say Hello
to family and friends in Person!
11 January
I see - I was trying to see some forest birds in our tree...
I had hung lots of food to encourage them...
but all I saw was Ralph wanting his ball thrown!
Slightly out of focus...the only bird I managed to 'capture' before Ralph joined me!

My Photo a Day January 2015, Week One
The 'Photo a Day' challenge has gone from a monthly list to weekly, Monday to Sunday.
Here is my take on the prompts for this first, short week.
The daily prompt is listed in red, the photo is my take on the prompt
and my description is under the photo!
1
Sky
I was really going to try and take my photo on the day, every day...
but today we have heavy fog which is only getting heavier.
This sky is from two days ago, the brightest blue sky we have had in a while!
A photo of my 'sky' on the day!
2
Yellow
I love this photo of the sculpted yellow pineapples in yellow bags!
They are part of summer in Shanghai. When I saw the 'Yellow' prompt I knew I had
to reach into my archive today.
A photo of yellow roses I actually took on the day.
3
Me
We have snow again today!
A little snow makes the cold winter a little easier for this Aussie to handle.
I also realised it is quite hard to publish a 'selfie'...and that I really need a haircut!
4
I hear...
...softened sounds, muffled by the freshly fallen snow.
I hear snow crunching under my feet.
Birds chirping as they wheel around the sky in joy, in clear, fresh air.
The occasional rumble as snow falls from the high branches and tumbles to the ground.
I hear the sounds of forest magic!
